Local Ocean’s innovative RAS infrastructure is ultra-efficient, scalable, and adaptive to many fish species and physical environments.

Land-based recirculating aquaculture technology is here.
Superior Fish Welfare
With complete control over the factors that contribute to fish welfare, we provide the ideal environment for our fish 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
Land-based RAS (recirculating aquaculture system) technology has crucial distinctions from traditional net-pen farming methods. Fish raised in RAS facilities don’t interact with wild populations, ocean-borne toxins, diseases, or parasites. This means no impact on wild populations and the surrounding environment, and total control over fish health and welfare.
Waste products from RAS farms, such as nutrient-rich effluent and CO², can be recaptured and used as energy or plant fertilizer, making it a truly sustainable and regenerative process. Our best-in-class re-circulating and filtration systems keep water cleaner for longer with maximum efficiency. 99.5% of the system flow is recirculated for reuse.
Unlike ocean farming, we have complete control over the environment within our system. We can maintain optimal water conditions, a bio-secure environment, and a constant current that keeps our fish active, giving our product a leaner, wild-like quality. Biomass density is well below 5% of the volume of the tanks for most of the life cycle, approaching only 8% even in the last weeks of the life cycle. Coupled with high-quality feed and natural lighting, these optimal conditions are ideal for raising healthy, happy fish.

Water quality is key.
The Local Ocean process starts and ends with pristine water.
